6-Pack of Conservator Le Crayon a Gratter Precision Pencil Refill Set - 3 Glass Fiber Tips, 1 Carbon Tip (No Pencil)
This pack of refills fits the Multi-pen cleaner pen and the Precision Pencil. It includes 3 white composite leads and 1 black graphite lead. Composite material leads are designed to clean the smallest particles with precision while preserving the patina of your bronze/copper coins. The white fiberglass tip allows you to remove all particles while the black carbon tip is dedicated to the most difficult concretions.
The precision pencils are available in 3 configurations: carbon and fiberglass tip; brass needle/brass scalpel; and brass brush. We sell all configurations in our store. And we also sell refills for all the precision pencil sets.
Try to use a circular motion while cleaning.
Do not apply too much pressure on the tip in order to avoid damaging the coin or relics.
These tips can be used in conjunction with liquid cleaners like Mint State Restoration cleaner we sell in our store. The “MSR Cleaner” will help soften any tough crust or concretions while the pencil gently removes it. It will speed up and make the cleaning process easier in most cases.
The harder the tip is, the better it will get rid of hard deposits and dirt.
The best tool to get rid of the crust is the scalpel; when you reach the surface of the object, use a softer/more accurate tool such as a hard tip or brush.
If you have to clean a coin with a patina, use the fiberglass brush as it will not damage the patina.
