• The brass brush is the first step in the cleaning process to efficiently remove the initial layer of dirt.

• The white fiberglass tip allows you to gently remove soft dirt in open fields, between legends, and reverses details, with no harm or damage to the patina. 

• The black carbon steel tip makes it possible to remove the harder deposits without removing the patina.

• The brass tip eliminates difficult deposits in the reliefs and legends of coins by slow and gentle probing.

• The brass scalpel tip allows you to remove the hardest concretions only. Be careful, this tip can scratch your find and damage the patina.

• The variant precision pencil with the Brass Brush tip is the first step in the cleaning process to efficiently remove the initial layer of dirt.

• Use the brass brush gently to avoid scratches on the coin or artifact surface.

• It's recommended to switch to other pencil types as soon as you've cleaned down to the surface for optimal results.

These precision pencils are perfect for cleaning bronze coins and artifacts found while metal detecting.

We highly recommend that, whether you are new to cleaning or an old-timer, always begin with the gentlest tool, before progressing further.

1)  The white fiberglass pencil is the easiest and most benign tool to use in this set. The mild tip is best used to remove soft dirt from wet or dry surfaces with no harm to patinas. 

2) Both of our brass pencil points should be your next option after using our fiberglass pencil. Use these tools if the crust on your coin or artifact proves to be very hard. You should stop using them before you actually reach the surface. 

3) The black carbon steel tip is best used to remove medium-hard encrustations. Applied judiciously, it will not harm patinas and can be used on wet or dry surfaces. 

4) The Brass Scalpel is the best tool for moving hard encrustations. 

5) The brass fiber brush is an excellent tool at all times during your cleaning process. Use it to flick away any dirt or rubble from surfaces with no patina harm. 

When applying our precision pencils to your cleaning projects, we highly suggest you use them in the accepted tried but true manner of tiny circular motions, NOT back and forth or up and down which will damage patinas. Start gently and then figure what amount of pressure is appropriate. 

All these pencils can be used in conjunction with liquid cleaners like Pararestor, Monetor, Clean Bill or Mint State Restoration cleaner. These liquid cleaners will help soften any tough crust or concretions while the pencils gently remove them.
